My undergraduate school, Louisiana Tech University, had an art gallery called the “Bellocq Gallery.” It’s named after the photographer E. J. Bellocq, famous for his portraits of Storyville (New Orleans red district) prostitutes. Apparently, the school wanted to name the gallery after a Louisiana artist, but had no idea he photographed prostitutes. Love it. Prostitute New Orleans, E.J. Bellocq, c.1912
